I like this solution best.

A few years ago I got made fun of for my wrapping skills so I just started putting presents in various sizes of brown paper bag. It started as a joke, but now I've completely forgotten how to wrap a gift properly and I'm doomed to use brown paper bags.

Bah Humbug!
All you really need are some stick on bows and some sense of timing.

You wait until the kids have gone to bed then bring out the presents from your hiding place. You stick bows on them and put them under the tree. Christmas present deployment complete and now it's Miller Time! We wrap presents so they look pretty in that short period of time between putting them out and the kids waking up. Hours of work for a couple of pictures and an "aww" or three before it is destroyed in the morning.

You have to realize that to a child the wrapping paper is just an impediment to getting to the present. A last often frustrating obstacle to overcome before playtime can begin. There isn't a kid ever born who would be mad that their new bicycle or Suzy Home Maker Oven or whatever else they had wanted from Santa, wasn't wrapped up in paper and scotch tape, and I daresay that there are few parents, at least the ones who are detailed with post Christmas cleanup chores, that would prefer the addition of piles of shredded paper to the job.

Back in the old days ...

But I do remember a few Christmas eve's of staying up all night on eggnog
and trying to put together the doll house and the tricycle and the other packages
I just left unwrapped and put them under the tree.
