Bearings

Ok so this is my problem.... how to i convert my sub bearing to a map bearing so i can plot positions accurately on the map ..iv tried subtracting the sub bearing away from 360 but when i use the ruler or what
but its the wrong bearing ,i have been using the protractor along my subs travel line 360 then back to the sub then out in the direction of the bearing called by hydrophone ..is this the only solution....
