I have also noticed, after the loss of Prien, Kretschmer and Schepke, many of the VIIB-class boats were withdrawn to Baltic (I remember, I remember!!!) in the next few months. I'm not sure was it releated with growing losses that the older boats were withdrawn. At least DÃ¶nitz plan was to send Prien and U47 to Baltic after Priens last patrol. But papa Prien never make it home...

So, your idea is just correct.
