If you prefer the staggagered layout for youe commands. Here is you defaul.txt changes.

Actually, I have a strange problem when changing the settings in the file (in anyway): the tab-layout does not appear on the Map-screen, only on the 3d view. I did note that in the text file it says something about only affecting the first HUD, so perhaps it is that.

Without any mods put the text file in the "default/hud folder. I have mods so I make sure they are in the override folder as well.

I have no mods at all. I am using PlayOnLinux so it might be an interaction with that (seems unlikely but possible).
