For the first time in decades, I (or better meanwhile we) will not have to drive a long distance to celebrate Christmas, since my mother is now in a nursing home nearby. So we can pick her up and celebrate at our home

Yes, my family has been doing the no gift Christmas thing for several years now. We enjoy Christmas much more when it's about getting family together and celebrating being on the green side of the grass together!

My x mas is gonna consist of turning 26 and spending time with the wife and two kids, she's big on gifts for everyone, I had told don't get me anything so the kids could get more....she still got me stuff of course lol. My plan for x mas is watch the kids loose it over new toys then fire up the fireplace and enjoy a nice brew while I get nice and toasty lol.

I am glad you are going to have a nice christmas with your family. I have a small family here in California and some more relatives in Georgia but both side of the family get together with our local relations.
