Default Epyx: Sub Battle Simulator

I remember that one - played it in the late 1980's. That was the 2nd Sub Sim game I got after "Gato"; SBS was definitely a step up. From what I recall, in Gato, you could only shoot straight ahead, so SBS was more sophisticated in allowing you to choose the gyro angle (which I had no idea how to set - most of my shots were "down the throat"). Unfortunately most of my love for the game was probably from the lack of "Silent Service II". By the time I got that game, I had less time for gaming and never learned how to play it. I played the German side more than the American side, because the Japanese shipping losses meant that later USN/PAcific patrols were less eventful than Kriegsmarine/Atlantic patrols.

Sub Battle Simulator is probably fair to say, superseded by SS2 but it does have elements in it which SS2 didnt. I love SS2 absolutely even though i am terrible at it

This being said re SS2 it has some strange setups for the tactical battle element, what i mean is that i was doing a war patrol and came across a large target and so hit yes to play it, and the battle, put my sub at surface level stationary literally directly in front of a japanese taskforce and they shot me up..all i could do was crash dive, but the depth charges rained on me and i had no chance....

SBS at least has the patrols and battles all in the same setting so it is up to you to locate and approach the target from as far away as it is that you spot them.

Default Gato 3.5" floppy

If I see that Gato floppy I will come back here and pm you. It was for a Fat Mac computer back then.
I think floppy disks do not retain data well and this is about 40 years old. Might have thrown it out a couple yrs ago.
