If you want to create a playable ship, I suggest you to build a playable ship for SH4, just to start you know...
I learnt to create these ships thanks to Peabody in this basic tutorial : http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=170464

Just have a look at this and try to create your own ship with S3D. You will no able to have playable guns but it's doesn't matter it will work anyway
