Hi Sandman
Yes, that is correct 40,000 tonnes is the minimum requirement, but there is a catch! You will notice in the campaign listings that the ships have type numbers like'102'; this means that not all of the ships you sink will count towards completing that missions objective, currently Middle East Supplies, only the ones relating to the numbers showing. All of your sinkings however will show in your Captain's Log total. Peter
