Having trouble with Empire Total War darthmod
hey guys, so I reinstalled windows 7 from windows 10 (I had to use the disc because it was after my 30 days were up). After I got everything back after the reinstall to windows 7, I installed Empire Total War, from Steam, and I installed Darthmod, 8.0.1 of course. After it was all done, I opened the game and the Dmod music and menu screen was all correct, but I started a game and the Dmod graphics weren't working, the tactical map had stock graphics and so did the battle graphics, all stock graphics. Does anyone know what I did wrong.
P.S, I installed the gamed on my E: drive. |

Did you open it via the Darthmod menu option rather than via steam or the traditional .exe file?

The best place to go for technical assistance for Darthmod Empire is TWCenter.

A couple weeks late, but just popped in so...
Perhaps you've sorted it, but the way I do it is to set the parameters with Darthmod. Choose the manual option and click play/start. This essentially sets TW in the Darthmod state. Then you start ETW through Steam. It is essential to have Steam started before starting the Darthmod launcher. If you've already sorted it, kindly disregard.

I actually haven't gotten a solution, but I have some questions. How do I set the parameters and how do I set it to manual mode?

One of the Settings at the top of the launcher will be auto-start. Choose off. That sets it to manual mode IIRC.
The parameters are set under options. You can choose campaigns, unit sizes, turns per year and the like. When set press Start. That sets the state. Leave the launcher open and start the game through Steam and you should be good to go. It won't work if you don't start Steam before opening the Darthmod launcher.

No problem, glad it worked. Good mod and great game.
For me, Napoleon just edges it, but I like Empire alot too. The gunpowder TW games feel more tactical to me than the melee ones, though I also played the hell out of Medieval 2 and Shogun 2. Can't go wrong with any of them.

It will be interesting which direction they go after the Warhammer one. Assuming it's historical, I've wanted them to do an American Civil War game. There are some inherent issues, not least of which is number of playable factions. And perhaps the market for that is limited, but I would certainly buy it.

Yes, though anticipated sales surely plays the biggest part. And the US market must be the core of the franchise. I don't see them doing a Civil war game, just wishful thinking.
I'd like to see a Medieval 3 as well. Evidently they are working on a 'historical' game alongside Warhammer, but I've seen no announcements as to what it might be. I've given Rome 2 a pass. Rome was my first TW game, and I liked it. Good memories of that one, especially scouring the campaign map with that fantastic music in the background. But the time period doesn't float my boat. And anything earlier would even less I think. 20th century stuff is probably beyond this engine. World War 1 for example. So what does that leave, in particular that hasn't been done already? So we are left with looking at re-boots of previous titles. Not necessarily a bad thing. I'd certainly buy a new Medieval or Empire. I just pray that they keep the wonderful supply/replenishment system used in Napoleon. I wish there were a way to have that system in all of my TW games. I'll likely buy any TW game from Middle ages through Industrialization.
