I believe that you can get detections of some transients, but I do not believe that there is any sort of notification that this happens.
In broadband, you can sometimes get pulses of sound from a contact, sometimes even from a contact you can't see otherwise (at least in the broadband). For examples, in LWAMI, you will get bright pulses on the broadband if a sub launches a missile (like a TLAM or a SUBROC), sometimes even from a surface ship. I am not sure if opening tube doors would generate that sort of transient or not, or how close you would need to be to see the transient. I don't believe stock or any mod models mechanical transients from within the sub (hatches clanging, dropped wrenches, singing, etc.). One problem with transients would be that there is no transient notification, other than a Torpedo in the Water, and I doubt the AutoCrew would react to one either. So you would basically have to be on the broadband screen constantly to pick one up in time to do anything useful with it. The AI, though, might very well respond to transients. Mike |

The way to check if transients are modelled is to play the game on 2 computers doing multiplater. Whether or not the AI or autocrew can detect this is anybody's guess. Try it out I suppose when really close.
