If this happened after the windows update you might want to give system restore a shot and pick the closest date before the update.

Plot thickens. So I turned off the power strip yesterday. I went to turn it on now. Won't power up at all.
 It's like it's unplugged now. Need to do research. Battery on motherboard? I guess this is my weekend project.

How old is the PC?
If it now does nothing at all it could be a faulty PSU. Do any of the fans turn when pushing the power button?
