![]() ![]() I have sorted out a mod list that did work OK, however, I am continuously plauged by one problem after another cropping up. My current problem is that having once again taken SH5 off in the hope that any corruption that may be there will be cleared out on reinstallation, I know find that having set up Generic Patcher, Options File Viewer etc correctly, I start the game and upon reaching the Bunker, i have following problems with (a) The Mouse (b) Stuttering with sound. In fact i cannot hardly move the mouse as though it is not doing what I want it to do. I have fully defragged the computer and the problem does not appear any where else on the computer only with SH5. Please, any help welcomed.

I will never get there with this game, Peter, even though I am overwhelmed with advice and help. Ha! SH3? Still looking but loosing heart for the whole Ubisoft bag of crap. I am assuming that your probs are lag related ..
I had a lot of cursor lag when i first started playing sh5 .. I was using a Phenom 2 X3 @ 2.6 ghz and a 4850 radeon card .. Now.. Thats a 256 bit card , which in the grand scheme isnt a hardcore card but its not weak either ,, or wasnt at the time .. I have since upgraded things to a 3.4 ghz proc and a 7950 card .. 384 bit or some such .. Its a beefy card .. No more cursor lag and actually teh entire game runs smoothly now .. This all goes back to what ive said many times before and that is SH5 was realeased a bit early , It took a really hardcore machine to run it perfectly at release and even today it takes a robust machine ,, so im going out on a limb and proposing that you may need a more powerful puter .. |

Just a few observations. 2 x 512gb gpu = 1gb graphics If split over the partitions would only give you 512gb of graphics per drive. DDR2 also being used. 8gb ram ok. Quite an old machine (8 years or less) XPS 420 with updated O/S. Probably asking too much for SH5 with all the mods that you like to use, really need a minimum of 2gb graphics but ok for SH3 and SH4. Could be why you are getting continuous ctd problems where you get to a point in your game where your machine cannot handle it? I am sure Mike will have a better understanding of these things. Have a tendancy to agree with you on the graphics power end of things, even though at a single 512 of graphics ram it easily appears to cope with Battlefields 3, 4, Black Ops 2 etc, as long as in-game settings are medium settings. It's a case of which Nvidia card to go for to suit my XPS 420 in size to fit the case and power needed, and of course, the cost. Always nice to hear from you, my friend. Graham.

I peviously had a 1gb ATI Radeon HD5770 GFX card and I was struggling at times. I think the current crop of mods are more demanding. You also might need a new psu. Dell's are pretty low in the wattage department. My XPS8100 had only a 350 watt's. Spent £1,000 on it last year. Only thing I have not upgraded is the motherboard. Hopefully later this year. Peter

Did the antilag tool help any from post #7? My motherboard is 5 years old at the moment. AMD Phenom 9950 Quad core 2.6 GHZ processor with only 4 GB of DDR2 RAM. My old ATI 4670 cards had 512 MB each, so crossfired they equaled what Peter had, too. for video RAM. The newer video card I mentioned made the biggest difference. I have a 600-700 watt power supply for my system.
Peter brought up a good point about the power supply. You can do a Google search for power supply calculators and see if your Dell is underpowered, especially for SH5 demands. Does your NVidia cards have a control panel where you can tweak graphics settings? Latest drivers etc? Are you using PCI Express X 16 graphic card slots on motherboard? Can anything be changed in BIOS that would effect transfer rate? X 16 slots have a data transfer rate of 4.0 GB/s. Any excessive programs running while SH5 is? This batch file below was converted from XP to Windows 7 purposes. Advanced System Care 8 has a game mode for similar functionality. I got the files I needed to stop between what I found in services.msc and the task manager. Code:
