Two things to notice
1. The men (and the horses) seemed to be slipping because they have metal plates on their shoes and they were walking on smooth hard surfaces. Yeah, they sound great but they are also as slippery as ice at times. 2. After they fell, they immediately resumed their military bearing. That takes discipline.  BTW, I thought that guy did a good job in catching his hat.
