Besides, it pisses off the 4 wheelers when you slow right down on a curve/corner that they can take at the limit.

They cuss me out when I climb hills that don't have a passing lane on them. Sometimes I think my 475hp Cat should be bigger, especially when I am loaded 138,000 lbs gross and that is legal.
Very seldom do I get the chance to run on the big street (4 lane highways).

You could run the big trains in the Australian Outback.

I would like to give that a shot. I imagine 'U' turns would be a hoot!

With one of those road trains if you missed a gear on a hill it would be hard to get going again you'd have to uncouple each separate trailer pull them one at a time if you where in the middle of nowhere. In Australia they do not have a truck stop to pull into either not for 90% of the trip anyway.

I'd try it.

There are few U turns- you usually have to shorten the train -some re-assembly required- I came to regard the whole concept as a way to save the company money on wages...If two drivers can pull 6 wagons it saves the $alary on a third driver. The welfare and safety of the driver was a secondary concept to management. Doubles is sufficient.Greed is a motivating factor in the freight biz... My back came to hate pushing 1500 lb. con-gears around when makin' the train.. If the middle pup gets to rockin' you've got problems...@ Stealhead: not worth tryin'!

I've had quite a few 4 wheeler drivers give me the one finger salute. I give them a whole bouquet of them in return. If the owner of the company catches wind of us giving someone the bird, then we are automatically fired. That is why the bouquet, let him prove that it was the one finger salute times 4.

Tell it to the hand.

Palm side out so there's no miscommunication that can get you fired.

I only had one chump that I wanted to show the weather gesture to. A Jeep driver who jumped in front of me and stepped on the brakes at the base of Mont Eagle in the Volunteer state. I had to climb that mountain in third gear.
Just as well I guess because a skateboard driver had lost his brakes on the downhill side and delivered his load into a lumber yard, starting a big ol' bonfire in the process.

I may be slow but I'm ahead of you!
