Mining it? Why would they want to do that?

I'm sure both governments and a few others have been busy prepping for the coming apocalypse by building massive underground bunker complexes in order to save themselves and a few select elites. For them, a wipeout asteroid would be the perfect way to reset everything without that niggling millions of years requirement for rebirth of life on Earth.
I can't think of any other reason for a huge amount of cash to disappear from the U. S. treasury with no explanation.

For cost effectiveness: entropy's the way to go! History has a weird way of repeating itself...every drop of water that constitutes each of us (90%)was once dinosaur piss?...
