WELCOME ABOARD!
![]() I know this doesn't really help, but my personal preference is to never use TC if I'm close enough to see my target. One reason is that I like the thrill of the chase. The other is that I once tried to do an end-around in a fog, went to TC and was kicked out again when the ship rammed me. ![]()

It's also generally not a good idea to sail around for long periods of time with the scope up, because it can be spotted.
Late war with radar and intense aircraft patrols they can and will bomb you just from seeing your scope/snorkle above the water. The correct way to use the scope is to raise it, take a peek, and lower it again. Repeat as necessary to continually refine your attack maneuvering. |

I think everyone is kind of missing the point.
Okay, you can kind of criticize the guy for having his scope up, but here's another annoying situation. You're on the surface making your way around to the front of a convoy. Winds are 15 m/s and you're about 9000 meters from the escort. A big wave swamps you and suddenly you get a hydrophone contact dropping you to TC: 8. This happens about every 10 seconds. Solutions? |

Yes, Zosimus pretty much got the point.
With GWX the waves are really high sometimes, especially at 15 m/s wind speed, which I get pretty often in the last few patrols. Thank you all for telling tips to a fellow (and nooby ![]() ![]() Also my watch officers started to spam me with "Ship spotted!" after I installed GWX, which gets mildly annoying as well after a while, so even surfaced I have this problem. The only way to work around the TC resets is diving at least to 15 meters (at higher depths I lose the hydrophone contact due to the waves), but like I said, I can't chase ships at medium speed with my VII.
