There are some banner adds that have been popping up on this site saying things like your addons/software/ect are out of date and such. Just ignore them.

I would recommend to use a script-blocker then. NoScript works good, and allows easy permission and prohibition, permanently and temporarily for every website you surf, on the fly.

If you need java then click the icon at your task bar for the update.
It should inform you that you are up to date and the issue should go away or download the update if you need one.

The Java version (installed or not) has not much to do with the build date of your Computer.
You need Java for several applications and programs.
The current version is 7, update 55.

If there is an older version installed on your PC (version 6 or lower) you should de-install it via system control/software/deinstall, and then install Java version #7.
Just make sure not to install the additional search bars, which are already checked as 'on' during installation - uncheck them and proceed.

Greetings,
Catfish

Yes, but - do you really need these applications...? I the outside world you cannot always avoid to meet it in devices and techncial gadgets, but on PC with Windows there is no excuse to program stuff in Java.

Steed, do you run Open Office? I seem to recall that the installation of Java is mandatory for using some of its more exotic features, and that it is offered to install Java when installing OpenOffice. There you could have caught it. I used Open Office for a while, but abandoned it again. I had not installed Java, and missed nothing from that.

That sounds like it to me, came up over the top of the open window and I just hit refresh page and it went. As said never seen it else just here on subsims. Looks like it has stopped now been free of it for a about two weeks now.
