My first car was a 1950 Ford. It was almost all there. No floorboards, you could literally see the road going past. Sat on a milk can.
2 nd car was a 1961 Morris Oxford. Painted British Racing Green. Nice car, fast. Was way faster after I put the Austin Healy motor in it.
Never owned or drove a Corvair.
My buddy had a '58 Chev that was an auto matic 283, he changed it to a 4 spd standard 348 and 2x 4bbls progressive linkage. Now that was a fast car.

The first car I ever drove was a 1947 Plymouth. I stole (took it without the owners' permission) it from our driveway while Mum & Dad were out of town getting drunk at a Grey Cup party. I did that twice. I was in my 40s when I fessed up to Dad. He admitted that he figured it was me, but he didn't care because the car was back where it was supposed to be (backed in the driveway) and with more gas in it than when he parked it.

Fingers crossed my kids don't ever read this, although the putting of fuel back in would probably be enough to scare them off

First cars now?

Mine was a '62 Ford Galaxy 500 that dad bought for my older brother and I. But in his eyes it was his car. So much so that he thought he could prevent me from using it by removing the power steering pump. Fooled him though. I didn't want to use it. I preferred dad's 67 Plymouth Sports Fury. That was a nice car. So I waited until I got a job and bought a '72 Dodge Charger practically new. It was a demo that the dealer owner's wife had driven for a year. I put that car through hell.

I thought this was winter....

anyway, my first car was a 69 olds 442, give anything to have that back. Had a few clunkers, but had a 72 Dodge Charger I later totaled....

Back to winter, 200,000 people without power in the triad area, most are being told 4-8 days before fixed. Glad we missed all the ice 30 minutes away, just snow...

Beautiful day here in the mountains - high was 59F/15C. Expected low tonight will be a little chilly. More of the same for the next two days, then possible snow Tuesday.

Spring is on the way...

Heralded by daylight savings time.
Spring your clocks forward at 02:00 on Sunday here in most of America.

Time travel. You gotta love it.
People complain about losing an hour of sleep. Well, go to bed an hour earlier for Pete's sake.

Update: I decided, at the behest of a friend, to check around on replacing my passenger door glass and got a much better price than the one I scheduled with Safelite. Like $200.00 less and they're coming to my home to effect the repair. Safelite wanted me to bring the truck to their shop because they were scared of the cold. They also couldn't get to it until the 18th. Now I'll have it fixed this coming Tuesday. A whole week sooner.

5/5, 5 seconds or 5" of movement and the warranty is gone. BUT it is cheaper and I don't blame him at all.
I busted the back window out of my Jeep Wrangler TJ 4 years ago. Chrysler wanted $400.oo for the replacement glass and another $200.oo for the hinges. So far I have put in 2 pieces of plywood and two hardware store hinges....Total cost $50.oo I have outside rear view mirrors, so I don't need to see out the back window.

Probably no better than the warranty on a Midas muffler. One dent and it's done. I wouldn't put it past them to ding the thing themselves when you're not looking.

So, I don't really care about the warranty in regard to the glass.
I probably rolled it up too tightly for the temperatures and POP! It busted.

29 and clear here in the Poconos today.

Nice sunny day today, around 11°C in the sunlight.

Could take my cap and gloves off when I was out walking.

I always leave my windows down about 1/16" when i am parking in the portable garage. it helps with the icing and steaming thing.
