Funny that those folks are milking one of the biggest freewheelers in the US, which receives hundreds of millions in direct and indirect subsides...
What I don't get: wouldn't the department which issues these cards see which transactions the folks did with their cards? if they deduct the bill from the next money transfer the buying spree would be more like a credit purchase than a real gain for the shoppers. |

Valid point indeed. This woman I know whose son is unemployed and currently staying with her he had a government issue cell phone(private contractor of course) Well his phone expired and legally he was no longer eligible for a new phone.Yet the provider gave him one anyway of course that contractor turns around and charges the government despite the fact that the person was not eligible for the phone. I am sure that there is a good deal of this fraud going around by corporations just in regards to such assistance programs not even thinking of other loopholes they have. Yes but big business is good for us all.Even though they nearly all have loopholes in the laws that allow them to pay nearly no taxes. http://www.dslreports.com/shownews/S...3-Years-116981 I am sure that there is a good deal of this fraud going around by corporations. In the long run they are the ones truly worthy of... ![]() Yet a stripper pays taxes and she gets paid in singles in the dark. ![]() Someday I think it is not to crazy to say that there will only be large corporations sort of like Weyland-Yutani not with the xenomorphs but the part how every one is a salve more or less to WT. I mean the EPA is a great example they fined Halliburton just a mere few hundred grand for the failure of the work they had done on that Deep Horizon well in the Gulf of Mexico which caused billions of dollars in damage. They kind of felt "guilty" and wound up donating a million dollars to some charity.Still though the EPA fines they are so low a large corporation actually saves money simply paying the fine than following the regulation.I work with EPA regulated stuff every day I have seen an EPA "agent" never it is only that I am honest it is not like anyone could actually catch me breaking the refrigerant regulations. The real reason the air is cleaner in the US and Western Europe is because the majority of the factories moved to third world locales. Last edited by Stealhead; 10-15-13 at 10:43 AM. |

As wrong as it is this is often the side of human nature that takes over when such opportunities arise.

Survival instinct you could say for some. With all the nonsense up in DC some might be thinking the whole deck of cards is about to come tumbling down and maybe it will.I am not bothered I can survive just by living off the land if it comes down to it one deer one hog that will last a long time for three people even with out power salt it up.

My wife is a supermarket manager. Not getting specific, as it could technically break the stupid paper she had to sign about airing out company grievances online.
But as long as I am not specific, no mention of company, or people. It should be ok, legally. The minute the first of the month hits, some people show up in cabs who wait (unpaid), or in many more cases, show up in cars nicer than 2 working people who make 50k plus can afford. Alot of them buy a pack of gum, get out the max 100$, then repeat until the cash side of the card is empty. They then buy shrimp and lobster, and 10$ a pound steaks with the food stamp bit of the money on the card. I work for a living, and crap like that is a treat, but to foodstampers, it is every night. HOW THE HELL CAN YOU DRIVE UP TO A SUPERMARKET IN A 2013 benz, AND USE FOODSTAMPS? How come no one cares!? wtf? Must be nice... I am stressing about how much more broke Obamacare will make me, these people buy lobster and drugs with my money.

But yeah, the cards are used to by a pack of gum. The rest taken in cash. See it at the local grocery. People care but the issue is so wide spread and apparently going on so long it is acceptable. Many say they are entitled to the money and can spend it any way they like. The real issue is most never get off the rolls. I have a family member who is a professional at it. A real career gal she is. ![]()

Don't forget...
The more sprogs you huck out that diseased useless babymaker, the more daddy warbucks gives you on that EBT card! I bet the government shutdown does not effect them. I sound so conservative here. I do not mind helping people, but I want them to give reciepts for everything. Crack dealers do not give reciepts, nor should they get my taxmoney. No cash for welfare/EBT. Zero cash, services only.

Ah, now it's clearer to me. So the EBT cards are only semi-personalized, by a PIN, but no id whatsoever is required when paying with them.
So besides what Stealhead said about retailers committing an offense when accepting foodstamps for luxury goods and his explaination about 2 cards in one: I wonder how many of y'all who noticed people paying with foodstamps also checked out if the user is also the original recipent. Trading them against dollars or wares is not uncommon – mostly to a worse rate than 1:1. Still seems to be doable in the new paperless system. A person with a new car paying with foodstamps says nothing about how they obtained them. The biggest problem I see is the issue of the dependent household members of the fs recipents – kids or elders. If someone prefers cool rims over good food it's their own problem. However the dependent persons are the one who easily can draw the short end of the stick if the welfare recipent has screwed up priorities – though this goes for all classes. Quote:
