None of the above, because I do not use social networks, run a blog, or whatever.

Specific personal information + internet = bad idea

Skype for known personal friends and Facebook for family only.

None of the above and I share the same sentiment as Ducimus.

Social networking can hurt you in so many ways these days.

Thats why I keep everything hidden (birth year, city living in etc) even my friends cant see that stuff if they don't know it oh well. I also have a password that is a jumble of letters numbers and special characters(if permitted by the site). What hurts people these days is they have no sense of security. No antivirus, spyware or malware protection so there can be a (keyloger grabbing passwords), then to top it off they make everything public so even if someone doesn't know them it is possible to pull birthday location and such oh and cant forget the vacation pictures or my personall favorite is add people from groups for games they play. They make it easy they expect to automatically be safe and not have to do anything.

As someone who has helped maintained a database of internet websites for over a decade now, I guarantee you that facebook and similar social media outlets maintain a searchable database on all their users. Setting stuff to private doesn't matter. Database's are created, maintained, sorted, and often sold or contracted out as a "feed" for monetary compensation under contract.. I'll wager Facebooks Database is arguably the most powerful commercial database on personal information in existence right now.

In my opinion if you are a regular user of any site that allows discussion in any shape or form well that is social media.Even if you use a pseudonym and do not use any of your real information it is still social media.

Youtube that is big time social media and I am very surprised that it is not on the list of options. What has been listed are only social networking sites.

@Ducimus that is a sure bet just look at the stock value of Facebook. The value is so high only because of its marketing value if Facebook had no marketing ability it would be worthless.I am almost ceratin that Mark Zukerburg knew exactly that this was the true value of Facebook all along.

The thread title is "Social Networking". That's why the list only contains social networking sites.

I would define "social media" as the latest evolution of a category of sites that I have watched evolve throughout the years. IMO "social media" started out as a "home page". Originally, sites like Geocities catered to this. "Home pages" or "personal web pages" later evolved into weblogs. Here that evolution diverged into two seperate branches. Weblogs went on to be "blogs" while the "home page" crowd that would make up lame HTML content about themselves went on to things like Myspace , facebook, and twitter.

Personally I have always taken a dim view of personal blogs, because theirs so damn many of them. An utter waste of bandwidth with millions of people, each one creating web content about themselves as if their somehow special and different from everyone else, or as if some random person on the internet actually cares. If you've seen one blog, you've seen them all. I see facebook as just an evolved version of this, though I will admit that it does make it easier to keep tabs on a friend or family member. At the same time however, I also have security issues with making personal information available on the internet, Private or not, once you put it up, it's there, and archieved in someobody's database.

I disagree. Take subsim for instance. I use a pseudoonym, and never post any real information. However, I would classify this site as a messageboard, or to get really old school, it's a BBS. A bulletin board service. On a side note, I also call "folders" directories.

Streaming media. It streams content, mainly videos that people can post comments on.

Probably. Database's can be big money. The one I work with, is the only reason why im still employed and have managed to survive countless layoffs, a merger, and later acquisition by a much larger corp.

Anywho, i'll add my personal info to things like facebook when pigs fly.

EDIT:
On a side note, even if your extremely careful and contentious about what info you give out about yourself on the internet, your personal info will still end up in somebodys database, available on the internet for a fee. There's a crapton of background check websites, or sites geared to finding an individual. All you need is a name and last known location, and you'll find them. I think all these sites draw their data from the same sources, I just don't know what it is. These sites typically give out teaser information, to get the full report you have to pay a fee. I looked up myself and found my last known addresses in such detail, it even listed some of my old PSC addresses.

EDIT 2:
First name, last name, city you live in, specific information like that, should be avoided like the plauge if you don't want some random person digging up your info. Also domain name regestries should be made private. I made that mistake for awhile but rectified that years ago.

I use Facebook mainly to keep up with friends I don't see and family.

Twitter and Instagram I have...but I hardly use them.

Skype...I use for gaming friends/subsim friends.

Google+ I only have because I have a Gmail Account.

Facebook - keeping in touch with all my former colleagues.
Twitter - I don't usually tweet but occasionally read others' tweets, usually funny or gaming orientated. I have been known to complain to DICE about BF3 problems and it looks like I'll do the same for BF4 if I get it.
G+ - Don't use very often, and by the looks of it nor do many others, at least in my circle of friends.
