Sorry I didn't clarify: after the head-on shot(s), rush full tilt into his sonar blind spot just at 20 meters scope down. he cant do much as his cans are too slow or not that shallow set and he is at speed himself. As u pass under, rise to your minimum scope sight depth and use the rear tubes then. If those miss, keep going full tilt as he cannot hear rearward till he begins to turn to regain his passive and active sonar over his own engines, when you then go silent and seek to evade in the abyss...

sure can, when situation presents itself I often use this shot on DD's and escorts. The higher skilled ones make it more difficult by zigging back and forth as they close but its still a doable shot. Best is when they just charge down the scope, head into them at standard speed, fire at 600 yards, then dive and hope they hit.I usually got the route Cdr Dealey did in USS Harder, fire 3, one right at it, one to each side, so they have nowhere to go.Sometimes I will wait until they begin the turn the fire the other two.Definitely a rush . |

Yes, you can do that, but what about when he does as it was scripted in the book? Catch you in the baffles of you're own sub. Try and seek him out, he doesn't fight fair, and his attack run was way different than a standard DD. Also, you would be amazed at how deadly he truely is. A standard DD in the game will throw 2-4 DCs, 1-2 per side, and drop 2 out the stern. He throws 8-10 in a hedgehog like fashion off each side, and drops another 4-5 in succession off the stern. You cannot escape that at all. I survived 1 run with damage, the next couple of passes were feigned by the Q ship, and then he came around again, at 156 feet you cannot escape that. Just try and load a new game, run up to Bungo Suido, and try and find him. Your results may vary, the game does inject several variables, but for me, he was the death that the book promised.
