How not to dress for a child custody hearing

I hope he at least told the judge that he had just come from a WWII re-enactment event. Still, it makes me wonder. Were their children malnourished, not attending school, sexually/physically abused? There are more than just "some" strange and weird people in this world. Many parents teach their children to hate. Some do it knowingly and some do it inadvertently. A child learns more from their parents' behavior than they do from their words/admonitions. These parents wear Nazi garb. Yes; strange, bizarre, weird, but where do we draw the line in taking someone's children away from them.

The father said “I want to raise my kids the way I want to”. Last time I checked, this was supposed to be a free country. If he changed his bizarre attire but still raised his children the way he wants, would he get his children back?
I wish I knew the whole story, as hopefully more there is, for having his children taken away. I'm not pro-nazi, neo-nazi, anarchistic or of any other hateful "ism". What other garb, political/religious followers do we turn to next in separating the children from their parents?
Then again, on the other hand, I do have trouble reconciling his choice of attire for the court hearing. I certainly wouldn't go around dressed in a nazi, or any other type of military uniform. Maybe, they actually did not want their children back.
