Yes, you do need to have mods in the right order, I would give you my mod list right now, but I am not in a position to do so right now, in about 6/8 hours time, I will be able to.

In the mean time, you could use Fifi's or Sobers mega mod.

What are your hardware specs?

This could have an effect on how your game plays.

Is your game patched to the 1.2?

Did you use patch before you installed mods?

32 gigs ram
Nvidea 9800 GT SLI Nvidea 7600
I7 Processor
2TB HD
--------------------------------------------

should be ample to play this thing.... and yeah its updated to 1.2, yeah i patched the game before using the mods... so im at a loss as to what making it crash non stop when i choose to dive....

Did you install your mods before you patched to version 1.2?

You get all kinds of problems if you install your mods before you get your game patched to 1.2.

What are your clock speeds and model of I7?
I have heard that SLI's can interfere with the game, but I cannot confirm this.

I once had your problem, and it was because I installed my mods before I patched, if you do, I'm pretty sure you need to re install, thats what fixed mine, but remember to use the GU.exe before you install the mods.

I have not used sobers mod list, so I will look into what it contains.

Run the DbgView app found in my UIs mod's \data\Applications folder before starting the game. When it crashes see what the output of DbgView says.

What does the game say in the upper right corner of the main menu screen (v1.2)?

Remember to use the GU.Exe in the Silent Hunter 5 folder, I cannot remember where at this time, it might be in support or applications?

I cannot remember.

But run that before you install mods, and if you backup your mods folder and make a mod profile using JSGME you can load them all back next install.

You could try some of the mod compilations or lists, but other than that, you have to work it out your self, it took me ages to put mine together, because I don't use mega mods.
I have 40 separate mods, you can guess how long it took.

I would advice you to patch game with TDW Generic Patcher, and then install those very essential mods to start with:
