If Hitler had been abused as a child his adult behaviour might be explained.
If his condition could have been detected and treated earlier, his hatred toned down? The problem with the "understanding" by doctors is that it happens after the offenses are committed. They want a way to treat people before they hurt others. They can't do that with today's laws that protect the rights of an individual. There are doctors treating the victims too, hopefully avoiding bad events later.

Fascinating to follow this discussion for once when it's not my discipline being the subject. I so rarely get to see it from this point of view. Not that it looks much different from where I'm standing now.
