There's your mistake, although I wouldn't expect you to know this. I guess we overlooked telling you this little bit of important information. I'll apologize on behalf of all.

For the mods to work, sh4 needs to be in its own directory. For example:
C: Silent Hunter 4 Wolves of the Pacific\...

I don't know why, but it's something with the "Program Files (x86)" directory that keeps the program from recognizing the mods. Someone who is computer savvy may be able to tell us why.

I mentioned in another thread that a computer expert friend told me that Windows 7 and 8 don't like anything non-Windows related in Program Files. They made it that way on purpose.

Thanks a lot guys!

So - I did the complete installation from scratch with
a different target drive (I:\).
Played the game in its 'virgin' state for a while to make sure
I'll recognize the differences later on...

Then I activated 'TriggerMaru_Overhaul_2-5' via JSGME.
Unfortunately with no results.

(I take it that if there is no Narwhal - then something
has gone wrong with the enabling of the mod)

The game looks and plays the same whether TMO is
activated or not.

As a last resort, I copied the whole TMO /data folder
into the games /data folder, thereby merging and
overwriting the original files.

Result: SH4 crashes after opening scene.

Sorry for all this - I'm sure it's a stupid mistake
as I started using mods (in SH3) only 2 weeks ago...

If somebody has any idea as to what to try
next - your advice will be more than welcome!

ok since now it crashing do a fresh install make sure everything is remove, whenever you install tmo on the loading screen you should see a sub and saying I'M THE GALLOPING GHOST OF THE JAPANESE COAST or something like that, also you might download JSGME and put the fresh install in the sh4 folder instead of coping it from sh3

After uninstalling, do a computer clean-up. If you have a good anti-virus software with a registry clean on it, use it. Then do a defrag. Then re-install sh4.

Thanks a lot guys!

I did all that and more (updated JSGME and cleaned
harddrive) - allas absolutely nothing happens.

Oh well - I will play SH3GWX+Rafael for now and dig
deeper into the 'secret' vaults of SUBSIM - maybe I get
lucky - and find some clues.

That means: I won't give up...

Thanks to you all for caring -and if some of you fine
seamen has further suggestions, don't hesitate to
post them.

P.S.: I have the strange feeling that it is something simple
that's wrong when I install TMO. JSGME doesn't complain
the least and the game is running, but without any sign of
the enabled TMO...
