I have a version of the book 'Hitlers Atlantic Wall' if you are interested.

I've gone out there a couple times in '93 and '94.

For me, being an American, the stand out place was the American Cemetary above Omaha Beach. Very moving. The whole area has some old fortifications.
A short ride from there is Pointe du Hoc. Definitely worth a visit.

I used Bayeaux as my base in '94. There is a British cemetary there where I was moved to tears by reading the inscriptions carved into the headstones.

Enjoy your trip and tke lots of pictures and make sure you post 'em for all to see.

Auf mich zu, direkt!

have fun

Been there myself a couple of times, so much to see if you're a WW2 nut like me

Apart from the parts of the atlantic wall and museums on the way there's a town call Sainte-Mère-Église which was the place where 1 or 2 battalions of paratroopers where dropped on the town which resulted in heavy casualties amongst them. There's a famous incident there with Paratrooper John Steele who got himself caught onto the church tower. Today there's a dummy paratrooper hanging there which I saw during my visit in St. Mère-Église.
