there is another good free MS Office clone at
www.kingsoftstore.co.uk/kingsoft-office-freeware.html I believe the earlier version does the American order of date, the latter UK. If you want to buy the paid for version ( Professional) it is very reasonable, but I usually put the Kingsoft 2012 free version onto computers we are giving away, and no-one has come back and complained - so I guess it is OK. The equivalents of Excel, PowerPoint and Word are all able to be made compatible with Microsoft Office docs, and Writer looks so much like Word from MS Office 2003 that I could not tell the difference.

I open up some of my Word/Excel/Access docs on open office and no problem, granted they looked a little different but hey it worked just a matter of getting use to it.
