Think folks would be a bit skeptical?
The comparision would be better if he would try to ban "assault kids": "This kid looks like it could wear camo clothes one day. It also posesses two hands, it could strangle somebody - sorry, you can't have it!"

I remember when the old Bush said he doesn't like Broccoli - and the crapstorm he got for it. "how could he say this, Broccoli is healthy, the Pres is supposed to be a role model for the kids, yada, yada..." Hey, at least it was an honest statement about his personal preferences - probably the only point in which I agreed with him. For reasons like that, politicians (and their PR crew) think twice before saying anything personal in the media age.

Wheather or not Obama likes skeet shooting, he plays by the rules of the modern PR circus: "Look, I'm one of you!" - just like the pics W. published , with the rolled up sleeves, working on his ranch.
Skeet shooting is a safe bet, even the majority of anti-gun folks would say nothing against using a gun for this purposes. So he plays the media flute.

The other thing is, publishing photos of him shooting clay pdgeons, would give the conspiracy nuts much more importance and attention than they deserve. The second a photo of him with a gun is shown, guys like Alex Jones would publish several pages, about the 1478 proofs why the pic is forged.

The difference between Obama and Bush in those examples is that it's easy to imagine George rolling up his sleeves and clearing brush on his own ranch. He doesn't look out of place doing it as the pictures of it show. Not that he has to do the work mind but rather that he'd do it more as a form of exercise. For the same reason I chop and split my own firewood up in Maine although I have the money to have a seasoned cord sectioned and split and delivered right to my place.

Barry on the other hand saying that he shoots skeet "all the time" is just not believable, to anyone. Especially when no one has ever heard of him doing it. He hasn't even mentioned it in his book about his life. It'd be like Angela Merkel suddenly announcing that she goes para-sailing "all the time". Would you believe it? Especially without any evidence or pictures?

I see what you're saying don't really buy that idea. After all it'd be rather easy to prove at least to to most peoples satisfaction that the picture wasn't forged making Jones look like even more of a nut than he already is. Barry hasn't done that and I can't see him missing the opportunity to make his opposition look like fools. He hasn't missed a chance to do so yet why now?

Maybe it's in focus among overseas America junkies but here it wasn't much more than a blip on the news. Bush clearing brush in Crawford made a far greater media splash.

Steve,

As I posted. I would really like to see a citation in the Constitution where public servants need to give their birth certificates to the press.

As you posted, there ain't one.

As to who needs to see it? The individual state board of elections certifies all candidates. So if a candidate is running for POTUS and happens to be a resident of Maine, it is the responsibility of the Maine state board of elections to properly certify that the candidate is eligible for office.
