It would also help when attacking un-armed merchants, at night, and spotting aircraft, this would be a very fun mod, had it existed.

To more accurately denote your location for they?

Interesting

But what if you used it as a reply to ship recognition signals(concept in itself to id other ships in the game),or as a reply to those dam Tommie's Leigh lights? Spotlight in their face might throw their aim off a bit.

Thank you for your response, we need more posts to get this thread noticed, and we might end up getting ourselves a searchlight

Just a few thoughts on this...

The stuff is already in the game, why not use it? If you could set it up to be movable like your guns are, it would be great to check ships and lifeboats at night. I always play the game where I check the lifeboats if possible. Or to be able to use it as an Aldis lamp. You already have the AI mods for subs, so why not a little ship to ship talk? I think a little back and forth blinking (if you are already getting messages from other subs convert a few to morse code) would really set off a wolfpack attack.

In the GR2, there is nothing connecting to it, so I don't think it was finished by the Devs.
But I'm new the Goblin editor, so I am not sure if anything else i connected to it.
I only merged the .SIM to it, if there is more, please tell me.

Exactly. It's an old naval dictum that a searchlight might light up your target, but now everyone else knows exactly where you are. Battleships use them to spot destroyers, destroyers use them to spot PT boats, but not the other way around. An airplane is a special case. It's very fast and usually coming right at a u-boat. you can shoot at it or dive, but shining your own light at it is a waste of time.

U-boats didn't have permanent searchlights. They carried portable units, mostly signal lamps.
