If you adjust the wave heights, throw in an occasional tsusami or rogue wave. You will become a legend.

I think people have tried to do that to no avail.

Too bad we can't do the same thing this newsreel footage of Halsy's Fleet in a Typhoon!

Winds up to 138 mph. And the Cruiser Pittsburgh lost 100ft off her bow, and made it back for repairs, as did the busted off bow section.

most the files are in the scene.dat, but the max height value seems to max out at 256, but other settings seem to have effect. I got some pretty big waves, but they remained a lil square at the top, but think some could be worked out, just got tired of testing it,

Thanks Armistead!

What I have been trying to do, is figure out how to make them more rolling than heavy chop, like the big ocean does. My uncle has been ribbing me because the waves look like what we get here on the Great lakes during storms. And he should know having served on the lake boats and been through many a gale on them from 1971 to 1998.

As he put it the last time he saw me playing the game, "ah, I see you're hunting Japanese ships on Lake Superior again".

And he does have a point, that the waves on the big lakes do get heavy chop, because the ricochette off the shorelines and causes the waves to be more like steep sided mountains, with that are more like giant chop that can reach 35ft on average, with rogues that reach 60 to 90ft.

What my uncle explained about the difference, is that on the ocean, the waves tend to go one direction, which follows the wind direction. And usually, they tend to roll more so than be choppy, unless you go through a typhhon like Halsey did, where they encountered windspeeds up to 138 mph. But even the film footage there shows them going in the same direction. Where on the big lakes, you get hit by waves from 3 sides.

Here's some film of the waves on the big lakes. Even more choppy than the north Atlantic.

forgive me, not at home per say and have none of the SH tools on this old slow laptop,

I can't remember the exact files in scene dat since it's been awhile, but click on each one and minus so you can scroll through all settings, many files that adjust waves are in env. files u may not suspect. You can try adjust the x and y ratios for water, that will make water more rolling and swelled, as I recall they're settings for each weather pattern, so just play with higher wind weather patterns. You can tweak other values, windspeed, choppy wave values, wind direction, water speed, ect. I did get a more rolling swell look by increasing x and y values, deceasing choppiness, slowing water speed..

helps to DL all the env mods and compare the scene dat settings and as always make your own small mod to test. The pain is u can adjust many values and u need to test each setup, so note what changes u make, some values u can adjust dramatically with lil effect, others small changes can really screw the look up......it's a pain for sure.
