Probably some real estate in the US and a pension for life.

I present to you the greatest technical achievement to ever come out of Afghanistan, the multitool. While it may look like a rock nothing could be further from the tooth, it is a genuine afghan multitool.

It was brought back by a friend who served a tour there.

Yeah. Its easy to make fun about cultures who are somewhat "backwards", isnt it?

I haven't said a word about their culture. All I did was make a joke in bad taste.

Now had I the inclination I could have written a long winded post about how decades, if not centuries, of warfare have left the technology in a completely stagnant state in Afghanistan, but meh. The tribal culture there is resposnible for this to a large degree, but so are foreign invaders and so is the mentality of not looking further than ones own tribe or village (that is also a problem elsewhere tbh).

That said, I was not attempting to mock their culture.

The logistical nightmare of leaving Afghanistan

Quote:
NATO forces are due to leave Afghanistan by the end of 2014, but the withdrawal poses a massive logistical challenge. The US and its allies are dependent on air hubs in Russia and authoritarian Central Asian republics to transport its troops and equipment home -- and getting those countries to play along is not always easy.
