Need a new PC...and just bought the SIM from Amazon. Any updates..or personal recommendations based on experiance running the Sim with MOD's. Looking to spend no more than $1000ish or less. Was looking at the possiblity of having a computer built..but dont know really how that works or who to go to. Was also thinking of getting a Base PC then upgrading the Graphics Card (and RAM if need be) like I did with my other HP. Any thoughts? Waited two years to buy this game and my PC crapped out a year ago...and have been using a laptop to bridge the gap. But obviously I want and need a PC to run SH5 (and maybe some other games as well) as I dont game on my Laptop.

64 bit operating system so you can have 8 gigs of ram , SH5 really needs it . A fast cpu well over 3 gig . The video card runs the game so the more you can spend on it the better . A good quality power supply , 850 watts etc . Start with getting the biggest case you can with big fans . Thats what keeps things cool . Its the peripherals that add up in the price .

Sober's right. Focus on CPU and memory. You want the 64bit OS so you can get the 8Gb. My system is, other than an aging CPU (Phenom 9850 X4 BE 2.6GHz) which could use a boost, limping along just adequately on 4Gb. And when I say adequately, I mean "just fine as long as I'm not near a port with a lot of traffic."

I should definitely boost the CPU, but I suspect that even just plugging in another 4Gb would help as the game slurps up every last byte of available RAM.

But yes, get a decent GPU to be sure, but focus on the CPU and memory as my setup was going almost as fine on a GTX260 as it is now on a GTX570, FPS-wise, except it looks much better on the 570. It's not my new GPU's fault, it's a matter of it not having sufficient backup from the rest of the system to be able to truly stretch its legs.

I want a good system...but I dont need to Geek it out with the best of everything. Just want something that will last me 5-6 years. Whats recommended Nividia card? GTX 570ish and above?
