Actually no need to answer that, you're hanging with a bunch of nutters (the rest of us subsimmers, that is), of course you are
My instincts exactly. I was wondering how the Kongo would react. But the Kongo was listing, so firing its guns accurately would have been difficult. Plus, no hostile moves had been taken by the Japanese TF against my boat, and my deck crew opened up at a range of 4,300 yds--a fairly safe range--when it did not receive hostile fire. I should note that the Kongo was still underway, albeit at a slow speed, and my boat had missed two or three torpedoes shots before I unleashed the deck gun crew. The next two torpedoes torpedoes hit (fourth and fifth hits), and caused an explosion which slowed the Kongo down to a crawl, but its props turned until the end. The last torpedoe (sixth and final hit) was fired at 1,000 yds, and by then it was obvious the Kongo was not going to fire its guns. The rest of the TF was far off, readying to retrieve its air squadron who were enroute to Pearl and the proverbial "day that will live in infamy." Note, Fred's Pearl Harbor mod's readme states that it does not include the air attacks. Too bad. I would have like to seen them engaging over battleship row.

Now, if it had been 0801hrs. rather than 0733 hrs. things might have gotten interesting. as the Japanese dds might have found my boat. Fred's pre Pearl Harbor start along with lurker's RSRDC made this attack possible, so the credit is theirs.

Starting out in the same time and ear myself so I find this interesting. Unsure though if I am going to go after the change history mode or not.
