Default torpedoes going off on their own tangent

I have my attack periscope point at 0 degrees aimed at ahead of the queen elizabeth. I fire a salvo of 4 torpedoes and instead of going straight ahead, they either go way off to the right, or way off to the left.

Ive been firing torpedoes all day trying to sink the ship, but the torpedoes seemingly do whatever they want to rather than go in the direction I need them to be fired.

Is this a flaw in the game? I can't imagine all 4 torpedoes not going in the direction that my attack periscope is set at.

What mods, if any are you running? The TDC in SH 5 works completely different from the previous games. If you lock on, the TDC assumes a speed of 0 in the shooting solution until you release lock. This is probably why your shots are straying; it is assuming a shot on a stationary target. This can be resolved by releasing the lock just before firing the torpedo. If you are running TDW's UI mod, it is even easier to resolve by locking on with the Space key, and selecting "follow target" in either the gunner's menu or the 2WO's menu and release the lock. In this manner, the TDC works exactly as it does in the previous games.

Ok I think Ive figured out something, other than Ive hit every single moving ship thus far with complete luck.

Apparently the torpedoes go in relationship to both the targets angle on the bow, and the attack periscopes bearing? I find that odd, I always thought it just had to do with the attack periscope bearing, but now that Im coordinating the two, I am hitting the target over and over successfully.

Auto targeting is a bit counter-intuitive, had me a bit bamboozled for a while.
Here is the solution;
