Ah! Haze inside the boat? Make sure to turn on the No Smoking lamp! Especially when submerged or the boat will start to look like Clancey's Pool Hall!

I guess my "problem" was just light fog and haze, that's the only time that I see it......(I finally got Cntrl-N to work

If your playing TMO, there is a weather forecast option on the command bar under 'misc'. It will tell you if there is light, medium, or heavy fog. If you don't want to play with fog, just go into the graphics options anytime during the game and uncheck 'Volumetric Fog'.
