Proton Torpedos? Probably overkill. I'm sure just shoving a potato up the exhaust will do just fine

Chinese military equipment is so cute...

Too bad everything they make is reverse engineered western tech. Taking a page out of the old soviet union playbook, steal, not innovate.

Works well right?

Well it at least looks threatening to the gwai lo, or laowai.

They steal from Russian tech too.

...and from americans as well. Did you know that their standard issue light weight ASW torpedo is an improved* copy of Mark 46?

*"improved" in this case means merging best features of stolen american and european torpedo technologies

Did´t they use over 20 years to "reverse engineer" the old version of the Mark 48 torpedo?

I assume you mean the YU-7? Joke's on them, the Mk-46 is a little piece of junk. ;P They didn't technically reverse engineer that one, we basically told them how to build them and sold them a bunch.

You are correct. I forgot you handed them over to Chinese (which in my opinion wasn't smartest of thigns to do) but I'm in understanding that Chinese were supposed to do only assembly work and didn't get full tech transfer.

Its true that in today's standards 46 mod 2 is somewhat obsolete technology like (in my understanding) Alenia's A244-S. Intresting question is how capable combination of those technologies really is? Also, how much Chinese have put in their own little modifications?

I thought we left some at Cam Rah Bay by mistake. I also heard a fishing trawler picked one up but that might have been a MK 48.

Their program got started by them picking up a few that they found, and ended with us selling them several hundred MK-46v2s as well as providing support on how to build them.
