Google the name and then Discography. You'll have a selection of lists of everything they ever recorded. At least then you can get an overview of what you might want.

Do you realize what you've done? Do either of you have *any* idea how stick-in-your-head-able that is?

I'm sorry, but I must hate you now. BOTH of you. And my gift to you is this:

That is hilarious! The right guy sounds like a bassoon, not like a tuba!

For a start, I got this compilation for cheap money in the wee hours of this morning. Not complete nor especially original, and not even all tunes are by Mancinini but just have been adapted by his orchestra, but a good start (and in itself a nice CD btw, it it doing its third continuous round over here).

You can check the titles for test playing, 30 sec each. You might be surprised how many tunes you know, just never had attributed to Mancini. And there is so very very much more by this guy...

ok, found some stuff, here are the relevant ones:

Mancini:

- The Mad, Mad World Of Soundtracks: 60s compilation, only one track, The Party)

- High Noon 25 Artists - One Song (of course only one track by him)

- The Pink Panther (Der rosarote Panther) Music From The Film Score composed And Conducted By Haenry Mancini

- Themes From Classic Science Fiction, Fantasy And Horror Films Music Composed By Henry Mancini , Hans J. Salter, Herman Stein(2 tracks; great compi btw)

I found also a very interesting vid, you might not know that he made the music for this: Olympiade '72 München; Acht berühmte Regisseure sehen die Spiele der XX. Olympiade, music by Mancini

Morricone :

- The Oliver Stone Connection (1 track: U-turn)

- Mission To Mars Original Soundtrack

- Once Upon A Time In America Original Motion Picture Soundtrack

- Ennio Morricone: The Legendary Italian Westerns (The Film Composers Series, Vol. 2)

- The Good, the Bad & the Ugly Original Motion Picture Soundtrack

If you are interested in any of those, I can write down the label codes; also note that under German copyright law we have the right to copy music for private purposes (Recht auf Privatkopie, §53 UrhG)

I was doing the initial bass-line, hence the reference to Steve playing it.

You don't know Peter Gunn? I'll bet you do.

Dum dum dum dum dum dum dum dum dum dum dum dum dum dum dum dum...

Okay, here, Henry will play for you.

Moon River?

You probably know lots of Mancini, but didn't know it was him.

At my work, we have many movie soundtracks and some compilations of film music. I'll see what I can find.

That's right the problem, as I indicated: there are too many titles (which in almost all cases I cannot attribute to the music anyway).

German Amazon for example gives you over 1300 entries for MP3 recordings related to Mancini. The number of albums related to "Morricone" also goes into the hundreds. Much is double recording and foreign recording, but still: both of these two created incredibly many pieces, themes, and albums.

I hoped somebody had a tip for a solid "Best of" with 2 or 3 CDs, a tip relating to the included content as well as the recording's quality.
