But stock SH3 is a dog, so any comparison should be made with mods installed. Truthfully, OM doesn't match up to GWX, and needs more work and newer mods, but fair is fair.

True. SH3 with factory install is really crappy, lol. It is, the graphics are bad, and there are bugs (like the direction the boat leans during dive/surface ughh!) so yea with gwx3 sh3 is a totally new game.
I dont use any mods on sh4 except my multiplayer mod that allows the uboats to play on lan/wan (tunngle) or whatever, that was my only real problem with v1.5

Ah. I have the problem that I have to play in a linear order, and I always seem to be starting over, so if I'm going to play SH4 it has to be OM or not at all. Someday I might actually reach 1942 and get to play fleet boats.

If compared a stock SH4 & SH5 game then IMO both are crap, unfinished buggy game. Only with Mods installed then both of these games are fun, playable & worthy. There still not many mods for SH5 yet, so the SH4 with its abundant of excellent mods out there like the RFB, TMO & OM is still the best when compared with SH5.

WELCOME ABOARD!
![]() Your statements are also true of SH3, and it has even more mods that haven't been duplicated for SH4 and probably never will be, at least for the German side.

SH3 and SH4 both have one important thing imho : A Soul.
Some say crappy out of the box but still worth playing for me. With Mods both are growing up to Masterpieces of Software for me. SH5 is...................nothing more than.......no, I wont say it, sry ![]()

SH5 is very fun and a great game, but kinda buggy. The whole GUI and ways of doing things has changed, thats all, you just have to re-learn all the controls, as you did when you first played sh3 Thats my opinion.
