My first suggestion would be to disable the Merged Campaign, since this greatly increases the demands on your system by loading all scripted traffic in all possible theaters of operation in the SH3 world. Unless you are moving back and forth from one to another on a regular basis in the course of a single patrol, it adds nothing to your gameplay experience but can easily max out your system's resources if you have a lot of other mods enabled.
Second, if you are using FM New Interiors (or DD's Open Hatch, for that matter) you don't need GWX Open Hatch since open hatches are already included with FM & DD's interiors. Third, I don't know if the order you posted your mods in is the same order in which you enabled them - but if so, I'm pretty sure the instructions for GWX 3 Wilhemshafen,St Naz,Schluese and xtra ships V6 indicate that it should be enabled first, before you enable any other mods you're going to use. Also, if Rbs1_SH4_Effects_GWX_30_71 is Racerboy's damage effects mod, it may conflict with GWX Enhanced Damage. FM New Interiors itself will also conflict with GWX Integrated Orders unless you have done the recommended manual edits to your commands_xx.cfg files as noted in the FMNI documentation, rather than just letting one mod overwrite the commands_xx.cfg files of the other. |

Thanks for the replies, but no luck. The strange thing is that it only happens in career mode, either through SH Commander or through SH3 itself, everything works fine in academy or single mission mode. I thought it might be the pull on the system, but I have 6GB RAM and ATI Radeon HD 4200 card, and AMD Anthlon X4 2.80GHz processor.

Even with 6 gigs of RAM on a 64-bit system, the game can only use 2 gigs of RAM max unless you've added the patch that lets it use more. In my experience crashes in career mode even though everything works fine otherwise are not all that unusual... in the single missions and tutorials you are loading a predefined scenario with specific objectives and targets and I can only assume this means that the game only loads what it needs for that. In career mode you are loading the entire SH3 world as defined by your campaign files, which can make a huge difference. If you haven't installed the patch, I would do that first and see if it makes a difference. |

I tried the 4GB patch, but it wouldn't load, message that my sh3.exe was undefined version. I purchased through steam just a few weeks ago and thought that might have an effect, thought I don't know why as version shows as 1.4.0.1

Until recently, I too had problems with CTD due to my 'mod mix'....I had maybe 10 to 15 'must have' mods including MFM-Lite and ST. Naz Pens.
I am not all that computer/mod savvy but have been around here a long time and learned quite a bit about SHIII and how it all works together...or doesn't! I finally decided to go thru all the steps get the 4GB patch working and ... Lo & Behold, It all works now. I strongly recommend you take the time to get the 4GB patch working...starting with an uninstall, then do the No Starforce/No DVD patch thing, then reload and set up the 4gb Patch. BTW: I have a 32 bit Windows XP System with very similar specs to your computer. Good luck to you sir...it's a real challenge to get it right but so WORTH IT once you get your favorite mod mix working! ![]() |
