*harumph*

You'll have to pry my Spongebob from my cold, dead hands.

I never understood how anyone thought Spongebob was applicable as an educational tool at all...I mean, unless you want to make sure your kids know it's okay to:
A. Be a fry cook
-a. who never moves ahead in life
B. live in a fruit.
C. have interspecies relationships with members of the rodent family.
D. consistently fail driver's tests.
E. truncate enough common sense to listen to a friend who is obviously mentally challenged....

need I say more?
That being said, I think its hilarious, as most childrens shows have silly jokes and innuendo slipped in here and there to make it more entertaining for people over the age of 6.

Frau, your picture failed.

The first Spongebob I ever saw was one where he had these new boots that were really squeaky and Krusty couldn't stand it so he took them and hid them under the floorboards then was gradually consumed by guilt over his crime. If "The Squeaky Boots" was not a deliberate parody of Poe's "The Telltale Heart" then I would be very much surprised... at any rate, it cracked me up. Been a fan ever since.

Could also be a reference to Dostojevskis "Crime and punishment"

Haven't read that one () but given what I remember of the episode and the way it was written, I'm gonna go with Poe. It would certainly be more familiar to most Western adults, since (at least when I was in school) that story was required reading. The Russian classics, not so much.
