Hello,
Been out of the loop for a very long time. I tried to run DW. I get stuck in the main options menu. The graphics a bit messed up. Once I click on any option, the game freezes. Any thoughts as to why this happens? I tried using Windows 7 compatibility mode...with no luck. Thanks! |

Hi Greenwood,
are you playing the stock DW or any MOD? Windows 7 create some trouble with MOD and stock DW installation requires administrator right, as the normal game run. Useful suggestion is to disable UAC service during playing DW. Hope this help. |

I have no problem using both UAC and playing DW on Windows 7
On installation you need admin rights that all. I believe your problem may be related to AA. Turn off AA(anti aliasing) from your NVIDIA setting.

Actually turning off AA is something I haven't tried. It's a graphic issue that's for sure. I can install and run the game. But when I get to the main options, a video capture from the intro get's stuck along with the menu options.
I'll try that. Thanks for the help!! |

Also try forcing vsync. In my experience this fixes a number of DW rendering problems.

also, from the readme, from your display adapter control panel, be sure to set display adapter 3D setting defaults to "let the 3D application decide" or you will experience anamolies.

It might also be related to the voice command applet activating when entering the options screen. The VC pannel tries to get into the foreground which might look weird.

The problem is, as Pisces said, the voice command program trying to activate and bring itself to the foreground, minimizing DW in the process. Sometimes with certain video drivers or cards, the graphics mess up when a game like DW is minimized or moved from the active window.
While I don't get this graphics problem with DW like I do some other games (though the voice command program still tries to hijack my computer ![]() Don't try to exit the voice command program because every time you go back to the options menu it will reactivate itself and start the whole problem over. Just let it run in the background, it wont hurt anything, and you can go to the options menu without problems. If you can open DW in windowed mode and then go to the options, you should see what I'm talking about, and you can switch over to fullscreen once you have the voice command program running in the background. Hope it helps.
