Default Paper like nav map?

I was wondering if there was a mod out there that makes the nav map look more like a map and not,how shall we say,NOT like a map?

Thanks!

The map we get with F5.I was just curious if there was a map mod that made that look more, erm, organic?,not sure if the real maps were paper or some other material etc,was just a thought
And thanks for the mod you mentioned, will take a look at that,do you have a link by any chance?.

pAUL ITS THE ONE THAT mAGIC111 POSTED.I was just agreeing with it.

The map is not real because we can zoom in and out. Most likely in real life you have the zoomed out map and other map sheets that cover a smaller area...for example a map for AN56 sector or a map of kiel to allow a captain to navigate out.Thing is you need the zoom map to be able to plot courses in the game.I actually hate(strong word)the way you watch the boat move and the nav line disappear.I am trying to find out which file to make invisible the nav lines disappear with the sub.

Sorry its Magic1111

About that, I get crashes on Brett SF Grass FullV2, but I don't get crashes with the 1024 res one. I'm running a beast inside my mid tower so it can't be that.

Sorry mate, never had SH3 crash on me,but I would think its just too much for your PC.I drop down to 35fps in harbor with GWX and its pegged at 60fps out at sea.Maybe try seeing what a difference the full version does to your fps?

I also switched back to the 1024 res version after I traced regular crashes back to the other version. What was odd is that the game would always crash when I passed through a particular area on the map. It was a spot right along my usual departure route out of base, which is how I noticed that I was *always* crashing when I tried to pass through that area.

I went through hours of looking at campaign layers in the ME (there was a waypoint right in that spot on one of the scripted shipping routes) trying to figure out if it was something related to one of the units that the game wanted to spawn there, but everything in my files checked out fine in that respect. Finally I just disabled everything and starting adding mods back in one by one... and it was the higher res version of that Grass mod that was the culprit. I never did figure out why.

Same, in fact I think you were the one who pointed this out to me. For me it was when I went from one terrain to another, like artic to arid or whatever, it would crash. So when the terrain textures had to be reloaded because the different climate, that is when it crashed.

I'm running 8gb 1666mhz.

oh does the 4gb hardcode fix fix this? I just did it but haven't tried these textures with it.

I don't know, I never went back and tried it again. If you find that the crashes no longer occur after installing the 4GB patch, let me know. Unless someone confirms that it makes a difference I'll stick with the 1024 version... too many bad memories of starting a new patrol only to have the game CTD over and over again.

What was also odd was that I could start a new career in Aug 1939 and pass through that same problem spot on my first (and sometimes second) patrol with no crash. It only seemed to be *after* I got past the date where the war actually started that I would have problems. Which is why I wondered if it had something to do with scripted routes or units that might have changed once the war began. I don't know how the game works in terms of rendering terrain, maybe it was trying to use a different .tga file because of a change of season or something. But I never investigated that, I just switched out the mod and got back to playing.
