So as a rule of thumb,it is generally used to call in air support, and preferably close to an axis base?
Thanks

You have to have 3 contacts in visible range to send a Contact Report.
Why?: Because those of us that use Manual Targeting could just read the Course & Speed from the Contact Report, for ebery single target encountered. It takes a bit of work to get 3 merchants in visible range, without being detected by the escorts. |

![]() So your conclusion is,that the target has to be a decent size (number of ships) in order for the bombers to get a fix on them?,makes sense actually.A convoy (even 3 ships) would be easier to detect from altitude than a lone vessel. Thanks.

The thought was, that being able to read OUR (not just your) contact reports sent for every target, would provide US (not just you) with even better information than using the Weapons Officer. Had that ability been included, it would have provided US an all too easy cheat. So you see, Paul, the explanation wasn't pointed at you alone, but all of us, myself included. (Big letters to add stress to a word, as in normal letter writing). |

![]() I agree,it would have made things even easier!,taking away from us the 'simulation' aspect of the game

After attacking a coastal convoy in a Type II I was attempting to evade and escape when a few JU88 turned up on the scene and started to attack the convoy. Did me a favor as this aided my escape from the escorts and it was also interesting to watch. One of Goring's planes didn't make it home though.
