I am not understanding this. Why was the door locked when there were people in side?

Can someone post some background information on this incident?

If mookie is correct, and this incident happened during the G20, then the owner was probably afraid of damage - either caused by rioters or by police which storms the store to catch or beat up protestors who try to hide inside. My guess would be that they closed the store for security reasons - with "normal" shoppers still inside.
