I have it for 2 months now.
The best thing would be, having two separate monitors, one laxing flat on the desk and the other for wieving. Or one touch-pad on the desk. Dont worry, the geeks will find a solution to it better then the people at MS |

If they follow by their 2-2 rule (every second version of Windows is a good one, the inbetween versions are bad ones), after XP was good and Vista was bad and Windows 7 was good, Windows 8 may go bad again.
Tradition is tradition. A touchscreen is nice for painting software, really, but else I do not understand the hype about it. but I also do not understand the hype over ipads, smartphones and the like, so maybe I am just living in the wrong age. I just think it is stupid to spend so much attention to things like this. Windows 7 user over here since 3 months. And a very happy one. I refuse to bother myself with just another OS again that soon. Ask again in 8 years or so.

from NT 4, there was 2000 (version 5) xp (version 5.1), vista (version 6), and 7 (which is actually version 6.1) now we don't know yet if windows 8 will actually be version 6.2 or version 7 if its version 7, there is a good chance that it will be mediocre, with poor features and stability. however, if it's version 6.2, than it will probably be quite good Last edited by the_tyrant; 06-02-11 at 06:14 PM. |

Microsoft has always been doing stuff like this. Every version comes with some good ideas, and a lot of asinine ideas and changes to existing stuff that no one wants.
Like Windows 7, it has several good innovations and several changes that make me wonder what the <censored> <censored> <censored> they were thinking. |

![]() Anyway, Microsoft doesn't seem to be doing logical numbers. Every time they went beyond *.1 the numbers started going everywhere, like with NT 3.5 and Windows Me (AKA Windows 4.9). I doubt we'll be seeing a straight forward version like Windows 6.2...Oh, does that mean we can start taking bets on the new version number? ![]() Anyway, you're partially right, but every other Windows release has been terrible even if it's from the same series as the previously good ones (See Windows Me). I guess we'll see how bad this one turns out soon enough...

I was never interested in touchscreens. For home use I don't see any value. There are applications I can see its value to use that tech. But for me I have no need of it. I'm conferrable with keyboard and mouse.
When computers can understand voice commands better and responds with a simulated personality touchscreens will be obsolete. ![]() Also screen is expensive to replace when damaged. Keyboards are cheap. Money will dictate what changes the market. Most business will use the tradition cheap method. ![]() |

Looks like the Windows 7 Mobile on my wifes phone. She touches 'tiles' to navigate to the apps. Not that bad really.

I went bankrupt on medical bills, and Windows 8 was my idea

I'm happy with 7 so I don't see why I should migrate except for better security and better application(games) performance environment.
