Not back at problem pc until Monday afternoon, will double-check Java then.

All singing and dancing again now

Updated Java to no effect, cleared cookies and cache though and that worked.

I ran ccleaner last week, not long before the issue started, and that cleared cookies and cache - but obviously not well.
