I have no numbers in my head which I could state without using a search engine, certainly more than in Europe. But it's a huge country, I don't think that the state can uphold its monopoly on violence (is this the right term? - we call it it here this way) in all areas, anytime, anywhere.

bad statistic, as they graphic only displays the percentage of legal gun ownership. Even that looks wrong, in Switzerland everybody who served in the military has his rifle at home (ammo is controlled).
For Europe you can certainly double the numbers. As I said in the other thread, illegal ownership is 20% here (this includes legal owners who have too many or non-registered weapons)
