That has got to be an issue with your specific systems set up my man other wise there would be a lot of other members having the same issue and there are not.

Also the announcements telling you about past occurrences such as torpedo launch calls and sounds or shallow waters warnings those occur to almost everyone and are not an issue at all its just a quirk with the game.I have been playing SH4 and mods for some time and those have always happened. If a person saved in the middle of battle then that is their mistake even if you have done it before that does not mean that it wont nerf things up later saving at the wrong times is a user error in my opinion.

If I knew more about the nitty gritty of PCs I'd help you out but I dont. So I'd say go to the page that tells you how to install mods (even if you have done it before) re-download all the mods you want to use (just in case something is wrong with the ones you have) re-install SH4 as well and get rid of all of your old saves if you have not.

Also where is your SH4 file?Dont use the default one do a custom install and make a folder for SH4 in your drive mine is: Computer/Local Disk/Games the Games folder I made up just for SH4 but you could use any name do this before you do the custom install as you will need to pick the folder you created for SH4.Dont know if you know this already or not just giving you some things to try.

P.S. the more mods you install the more likely you are going to have an issue as well and that number can vary from PC to PC mod to mod.

I'm sure it is something with my specific system but coincidentially it became more frequent after I moved to TMO2.1. Also, after scanning this forum and UBI's I found "a lot" of other members having this issue.

However, my scanning did find a suggestion that I think applies to me and I am trying it out now. What I learned from another post on the UBI forum has to do with the size of the saves the more saves you do on one patrol. The advice was to watch the HD activity when you start the save and don't go back to the game until that activity returns the normal heartbeat type blinking. The thought being that returning to the game may interrupt the save of all the information, hence resulting in a bad save. My experience has been since I take alot of saves, that somewhere over 8 is when I started getting bad ones. Nothing more specific than that for now.

Just make sure you always save from the Control Room. That fixed all my save issues.

I wish someone who knows more about the SH4 innards could resolve this once and for all.Certain things do seem to cause nerfed save files like saving while near other ships but some I am not so sure of.

It reminds me of cures for hiccups, maybe if I stand on my head hold my breath and then save while looking at the SJ radar screen I will have no save bugs.

It's one of those issue in all gaming, many factors involved and no game is gonna do right on every PC setup.

But I agree with others, bad to save when near land, ships, any action. This action is in current movement, even if the save works you can often come back and find things not the same.

The more that's going on, the more info your PC has to save. It also has to save all that's happened from your patrol, damage, ships sunk, etc.

It's simply best to save when nothing is happening, less to save, less to mess up. Even more dangerous if your PC is a lil low on specs.

I've changed my Saves to use F2(TMO) view, then Pause, then ESC, and then the Save when no ships are around, away from land, on the surface, wheeew, and still I have problems. Can someone explain what should be expected in the Document/data/cfg folder wrt to saves? What I have now is a total of 12 Saves in the Richsavedgames folder, including the two autosaves, but only 8 in the SaveGames folder sequenced 00000000, 00000001, 00000002, 00000005, 00000006,00000007, 00000009. The last two saves in the Richsavedgames folder do not have matching 0000000x folders, which problably means I lost my last two saves, right? I created a new folder in Documents using MultiSh after starting with a fresh copy of SHIV plus Mods. Could I be doing something wrong with MultiSH? Disc problem maybe?

In my case I have 14 files in each case and I have not had any serious issues in some time with save files. My guess would be that there should be an equal number in each file(one each per each save file in game) and possibly the game uses some data from both of them when loading up a save.Sounds to me either the files are lost or maybe they never got created in the first place.

Hopefully someone who knows about how these files work together will post a reply.

Man jldjs you must really give it to the IJN they have sent an agent to sabotage your save files.

Maybe I'm misunderstanding you here but, what I do is delete all my saved games in the My Documents/SHIV folder whenever I start a new career. Of course, I delete all the saves in-game first. It probably doesn't make a difference either way, but I do this against even the slightest possibility that it may interfere with any future saves.
