Check the thread about the GUPPY Mod, as this is a postwar GUPPY conversion sub.

If you get TMO then you can start a career with a Tench class sub of course this will be the WWII version and will not have that type of conning tower GUPPY and Fleet Snorkel versions weren't around until after WWII.There is no Tench class in stock.

Also the SS 410 Threadfin is a Balao class not a Tench class.Where ever the data from that picture came from it is incorrect.

So does Sturmvogel like the GUPPY and Fleet Snorkel conversions which some Tench Class boats where modified to or is he trying to find out how to get the WWII Tench class in game?
Really pound for pound the Tench Class was more or less just an notable refinement in the general layout of the Balao class it does however carry I believe 28 torpedoes in TMO.

If he's talking about the WWII versions, then he'd be THRILLED at the original fitting of the USS Requin

Two deck deck guns and two artillery rocket launchers - and later many Tench class boats were converted into radar picket ships

I'd say both of those would be amazing mods. I'd love to have a 200 some mile radar range, and rockets, haha

Well with TMO you can pretty much have the USS Requin set up with any late war Gato,Balao or Tench class with two 5/25s and two 40mm Bofors you just wont have the rockets which as far as I know the only sub to have used rockets in combat during WWII was the Barb which had a jerry rigged rocket mount but they where meant to attack shore targets not vessels.

I guess I am too much a WWII purest to be interested in the radar pickets the idea for those did originate in WWII but they did not see service until the late 40's they where some of the first Cold War subs I dont know useful being able to spot enemy planes on radar from such range would all that useful though in SH4.Some later Gatos and Balaos where also converted to guide early cruise missiles.

And some of the GUPPY "lite" subs where sold to allied navies in 60's and some of those did not get retired until the late 70's not bad for subs first completed in 1944 in some cases.

The rockets on Requin were put there for land attack

And - the 2 deck guns it had were 5 inch/25caliber guns

"Initially, Requin carried heavier armament than usual for a fleet submarine, perhaps because Commander Cutter was one of the most decorated submarine skippers going to sea. She had an additional five-inch/25-caliber deck gun, as well as two 24-tube five-inch (127 mm) rocket launchers, which were intended to be used to provide offshore bombardment during Operation Downfall, the planned invasion of Kyūshū and Honshū."

I wonder if the aiming was any better than the Barbs Jerry rigging which was pretty much point the "bow at the target" and they had yest fired them at one point to have a rough idea where they'd land. Some late war boats had the 2 5/25s and some sort of fire control computer for them but not the rockets.

I guess as the war was coming to an end and enemy shipping becoming a bit more rare and allied aircraft being able to destroy more ships they where trying to come up with other things to do with the subs like attacking shore targets.
