I agree. But in the movie I think the character was in the navy for 15-20 years prior to WWII. I just did not know that "mavericks to Captain" happened in Submarines during WWII. The Navy has not always had a good feeling for Mavericks from what I understand.

First time I've seen it! It was really good, but the sound cut out on the last 2 minutes of the film

You can watch it anytime at letmewatch.com, as you can about any movie ever made. They have probably every movie for the last 70 years, including all the sub movies.

http://www.letmewatchthis.ch/watch-19575-Torpedo-Run

I find it always best to use stagevu if a link is available, as they have the best software. Megavideo is the other good one, but they have time limits, but easily defeated by searching on the web "watch megavideo without time limits." Megavideo buffers fast, stagevu is OK, but I just start it and then pause and let it load for about 15 minutes, then play. Don't use the link megavideomovieshare, that isn't megavideo. I'm not saying the hundreds of other links wont get you to movies, but many let people upload and don't have software to check what they upload and you can get a bunch of ad crap, so I only trust a few. Often people use youtube there, which is fine, just often you have to load movies in parts and quality isn't as good. You don't need to sign up for anything unless you want.

You can watch in in windowed or wide by using the buttons. If you go wide, just click on the movie screen and you get all you controls.

Having used this for movies for years, never load plugins on any movie site, even youtube, go direct to the page, if you don't have it already you'll need to DL a DivX player, but most have that. If you need it, get DivX here, you can see the free dl top left.
http://www.divx.com/

Again, ignore any movie site that ask you to download plugins, they usually install a lot of adware with it. Often some will say you need it when you have it, you don't, X out the screen and watch your movie.

You can watch many movies before they come out. I don't like any other link except stagevu and megavideo, others run so many ads they take forever to load and several run adware under plugins. Putlocker is OK, just have to x out the few ads. Some stagevu links will ask you to install plugins, ignore them by x'ing any of that crap.

I got the DVD's of the "Silent Service" old TV series I'll be putting up soon.

Course I use avast web scanner and the free version catches all the crap should any appear..

I don't know if it actually happened in the pre WW2 US Navy but i'd say in general military terms a Maverick officers chance of reaching command rank would be significantly improved during wartime. Not only is there a huge increase in billets of every rank as the service gears up to it's wartime footing, but war also has a way of gutting out the old boy networks that seem to prevail in peacetime.

When the bullets start flying whose nephew an officer might be or what military academy he graduated from becomes not as nearly as important as whether or not they can accomplish their mission.

Damn Dowly that sounds a lot like something an old guy would say! Watch out, before you know it you'll be wearing suspenders and shaking your fist at teenagers...

Haha, I know.

No, but seriously. There's a lot of sites that link to Subsim, one of the most notable being atm the DARPA ACTUV's homepage that says:

You can also share your experiences and insights from playing the simulator with others at SUBSIM ACTUV forum.
So, not probably a good idea to have links to piracy stuff here.

anywhoo, I love these old sub movies, when they used the real subs. I love all of the models that they use for the depth charge scenes. I'd love to see where and how they filmed all of those types of scenes.

I'm really starting to dislike CGI.
